Destination Changes launched April 8 and I was pleased to have some pre-orders! What I was most excited about around that time was my first book launch party!
I hosted the event at Nellie B’s and you can see the spread we had! IT was at the end of April and about 15 people came.
The event had a couple of moments where I really had to trust God and Amazon to get me through! Rookie author mistake: I thought I had ordered my books in plenty of time before the party but the tracker said they wouldn’t arrive in time. Panic moment!
I decided to pivot and bought a bunch of padded envelopes and was going to sell the book and offer to ship it to them for free. I even bought stickers and markers so they could decorate their own envelopes!
Well, guess what showed up about an hour before I was scheduled to leave for the party? You guessed it!
My books arrived right in the nick of time and everyone there purchased one. I was so honored to have that many people attend on a Sunday afternoon AND purchase the book!
I did a reading from the book and did a Q&A with the audience. It was all friends so I was grateful to have a familiar audience for my first event. I learned a lot!
All in all, it was a nice event made possible by friends from several walks of life.
